Artisan Series Annual Wine Label Competition
The competition is now open for 2013!
Overview:
Parley Lake Winery introduced it’s Artisan Series Wine in October 2010. The winery is committed to featuring the artwork of a new artist on the Artisan Series label each year. The inaugural release features the bronze sculpture “The Man and The Muse” representing Bacchus and Mother Earth created by Deb Zeller.
The 2011 featured artist is Terry Honstead. The 2012 featured artiste will be announced in July.
Info for 2013:
What: Parley Lake Winery Artisan Series 13 Label Competition
Who: Seeking all Minnesota artists (see item #3 in Terms and Conditions)
Purpose: To create the original artwork for the current year’s annual wine label
Theme: Something striking that would inspire you to pick up our bottle of wine
Artwork Specs: The size of the original artwork is not critical however, PROPORTION is very important. Parley Lake Winery has a vertical label that measures 1 3/4 inches wide by 5 1/2 inches tall. The standard label features an “artwork box” that measures 1 1/2 inch wide by 3 1/4 inches tall. While it is not critical to maintain these exact proportions for the Artisan Series artwork, art that conforms to this approximate proportion is preferred. Examples of sizes that meet this criteria are: 5”W x 11”H, 10”W x 22”H, etc.
Media: The artwork can be in any medium including drawing, painting, photography, graphic arts and sculpture. The entry should be an image only, do not use words, letters or any writing other than your signature on the artwork.
Format: JPEG, preferably 300 DPI, titled with your name and title of the artwork.
Example: DebZeller_ManAndMuse.jpg
Fee: The competition is FREE to all Minnesota artists
Deadline: The competition will run annually. Closing date for 2013 will be January 2, 2013. Entries received after that date will be considered for 2014.
Prize: The artist will receive a case of Parley Lake Artisan Series Proprietary Blend Red Wine with their artwork on the label (approximate value of $300), a private tasting and tour of Parley Lake winery for up to 12 guests. The artist will also be featured on the Parley Lake Winery Website which is averaging about 30,000 hits per year.
Judging: The winery will identify up to 5 semi-finalists. Images of the semi-finalist artwork will then be available in the Parley Lake Winery Tasting Room where visitors will vote and comment on the entries. The images may also be posted on the Parley Lake Winery Website, social media pages or other printed materials.
Implementation: Parley Lake Winery’s label designers, Knittig Design, Inc., will incorporate the winning image into each year’s label. It may be necessary to crop/edit the image for label impact.
