Terry Kayser video taped the Outdoor Painters of Minnesota when they came out on July 23, 2011 to paint for their monthly paint-out. The film shows the winery grounds and the artists talk about their work and the scenes they are painting. In the afternoon when all the paintings were displayed, the local band “Creatures in the Parlor” played original songs providing entertainment as viewers sampled the wine, art and music.

Release of Lakeside White

Last fields will be picked this weekend

It has been so busy out at the winery, I haven’t taken time to post activity. Our last big picking weekend is coming up this weekend with three shifts, 8AM Saturday, 1PM Saturday and 8AM Sunday. There are still a few openings on all shifts so contact deb@parleylake.com if you would like to be scheduled. The photo here was taken last weekend when the shift was getting their orientation and training from winemaker Steve and vinemaster Lin. It was a gorgeous cool morning with a wonderful fog that made the vineyards look almost mysterious. It burned off quickly, but the picking crew thought they had landed in heaven.

Our winemaker Steve Zeller and vineyard master Lin Deardorff greeted visitors at the Minnesota State Fair on opening day 2011. In it’s 4th year, this is the first year that Parley Lake Winery has joined the Minnesota Wine Country group at our Great State Get Together. Learn about and enjoy wines made right here in our fine state. Wines from a dozen different Minnesota wineries are available by the glass or as wine flights of three or six.

When you’re there, make sure number 4, our Double Gold Parley Lake Winery Frontenac Gris is one of the wines you sample.

Find us in the North Hall of the Agriculture building this year. Next year we will be expanding into the Epiphany Diner building which is closing this year.

Outdoor Painters of Minnesota

This past weekend 28 members of the Outdoor Painters of Minnesota spent the day painting at Parley Lake Winery. Some artists started painting at the break of dawn and had their first creation ready to display by the time the winery opened at noon. It was a fun, productive day, with some artists completing as many as three paintings. Wet paint art was on display and available for sale to Parley Lake Winery guests. It was a great way for the public to watch great paintings develop, meet the artists and have the opportunity to own original art. See more images here.

The band, Creatures in the Parlor set up on the deck and played a great selection of their original songs. The wine garden was full of guests enjoying picnic lunches, great wine and great art.
