Selected in 2009 for Parley Lake award winning Apples and Vines.
An artist with a variety of interests Robert is well schooled in several types of painting disciplines and he is an accomplished plein air painter, figure and fresco painter. For five years, Robert studied at the Atelier under Richard Lack where he was presented with two gold metals for figure work.
Robert believes that “Plein air painting is the root of all good painting.” He paints the meandering Mississippi in all weather and terrain. In the studio, Robert, incorporates his knowledge of outdoor studies to painting still life, figure works, larger landscapes and frescos. He looks to nature for inspiration.
In 2011, Bob started plein air painting at Parley Lake Winery. Contact us if you are interested in seeing more of his work.

Selected in 2010 for Parley Lake award winning inital release Artisan Series 10 wine.
The inagural release wasn’t a contest. Bronze artist Deb Zeller is married to the winemaker. She created “The Man and the Muse” while Steve was creating the Artisan Series wine.
Inspiration for this sculpture goes back to Roman times and Bacchus, god of wine and grapes. He has been integrated with his muse, Mother Earth who represents the fertile soil that nurtures the vines. In this interactive sculpture, they are wonderfully balanced for smooth rotation on a stainless steel rod and have since been mounted on a bronze wine barrel base.
Winner of the 2011 Parley Lake Artisan Series 11 Competition.
Terry says “To me, art is life and life is art.”
“As I learn more and more about art, I try different and more techniques. I continue to use those that I like and discard those that are not a part of me. “

Balanced relationships: men and women, vines and the earth, wine and grapes. Where does one end and the other really begin? Can one exist without the other? In many ways, this sculpture represents the things that are most important to Deb and Steve; first and foremost, their relationship and secondly their passions for their hobbies. It also represents the dichotomies of their lives; the momentary pleasure of fine wine crossing the lips contrasted by the longevity of a well executed bronze sculpture which has the capability of lasting for 3,000 years.
This label was winner of the Bronze Medal in the 2011 Mid-American Wine Competition’s Most Sophisticated Label Contest!
Selected in 2011 for Parley Lake’s first blended white wine Lakeside White.
Tom credits his mother for his early interest in art, and his artistic talent. She encouraged his interest and fostered his growing skills by enrolling him in summer art classes. Ending up in California, raising a family, with a career in aerospace, Tom put his artistic skills “on the shelf”. Since retiring, Tom has jumped back into the artistic world, exhibiting his work at three galleries in Minnesota, and one in Wisconsin, over the past two years. Saxe’s work can’t be categorized into a single genre, but migrates between three areas, photo realism, impressionism and abstract. Landscapes, still-life, and figurative scenes dominate his recent work, with an occasional abstract. Saxe studied Business Administration and Art at Dominican College in Wisconsin and UCLA and has a BS degree.
